Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree from the department of English literature. Mitchell was hired as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She joined NBC News Washington two years later as a general reporter. Beginning in 1981, she began reporting on the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was appointed the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell participated on the TV program Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell was a panelist at the 1988 debates with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for journalism excellence, including the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell began covering in the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. She covered many notable stories such as arms control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of the President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
